The two suspected robbers who attacked and robbed two ladies last month at Kanvlli-Tuunaayili have been sentenced to 35 and 20years respectively. The accused persons Imoro Abdul Rahman and Mubarik Abu appeared before the Tamale Circuit court presided over by H/H Justice Twumasi Appiah.
The first accused Imoro Abdul Rahman was charged with three counts, conspiracy to commit crime to wit robbery, robbery and causing unlawful harm.
The Second accused Mubarik Abu was charged with two counts, conspiracy to commit crime to wit robbery, and robbery.They both pleaded guilty on all counts against them.First accused was sentenced to 15 years on count one,15 years on count two and 5 years on count three, IHL. sentences to run concurrently.
The Second accused was sentenced to 10 years on count one and 10 years on count two, IHL.Sentence would run concurrently. The Accused persons are currently serving their sentences at the Tamale central prisons.
It can be recalled that, the young men on 29th July, 2018 attacked and robbed two ladies, Foritong Cindy Yenulom age 25 years, a graduate of the Community Health Nurses Training School at Sakasaka, Tamale and Anaba Rophina age 26 years, a past student of Walewale Senior High School. Both complainants reside at Kanvili-Tuunaayili a suburb of Tamale. The first accused Imoro Abdul Rahman age 25 years and 2nd accused Mubarik Abu age 23 years are carpenters and both reside at Kanvili-Tuunaayili, Tamale. On 29th July 2018, at about 11:00pm, the complainants were walking home from King David spot.
On reaching a section of the road at Kanvili-Tuunaayili, the accused persons who were riding on a Luojia Motorbike crossed them. The second complainant shouted out to the first complainant to run because the accused persons were armed. The complainants run to a house nearby but the metal gate was locked. The first accused run after them with a cutlass and collected one Infinix Hot note mobile phone, one Tecno J8 mobile phone and a purse containing cash the sum of Gh¢300.00 from them. In the process first accused used the cutlass to slash the palm of first complainant cutting her 3 fingers.
The complainants were rescued by some passer-bys who arrested the first accused and took him to the Kanvili Chief Palace. He was later arrested by a police patrol team and brought to the station. The Second accused who took off with the motorbike but was later arrested to aid in investigation. Both accused persons admitted the offence in their investigation cautioned statement to the police.
