A group calling itself the Patriots of Tamale have described as unpatriotic the conduct of some selected Assemble members of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly. According to them, the move by the honorable members to impeach the Metropolitan Chief Executive, Hon Iddrisu Musah Superior is irresponsible and dead on arrival. They also described as irrelevant and infamous the resolution of Vote of No Confidence on the MCE.
Addressing Journalists at the central business district of Tamale, the President of the group, Abdul-Rashid Goodman said the social interventions and programs by the mayor must not be undermined or discouraged by any individual or group for their partisan or parochial interest to the detriment of the general populace. He stated they shall resist any attempt by the assemble members to truncate the good works initiated by the mayor.
Mr. Goodman bemoaned the Tamale Mayor; Iddrisu Musah Superior inherited a metropolis that was not deserving and befitting its status and was always in the news for bad reasons. He disclosed this informed the decision of the mayor to decongest the principal streets of the central business district of Tamale, weeding out minors and Indian herm (wee) smokers at the Nyohini forest, banning minors from roaming in the night and yet to clear off sex traders who have invaded the area.
Meanwhile, some selected Assemble Members earlier in the week on October 25, 2017 signed a resolution to pass Vote of No Confidence on the Mayor of Tamale, Hon Iddrisu Musah Superior. According to them, the MCE is disrespecting and disregarding Assembly members and Awarding contracts without recourse to due process.
They also alleged that, he is mismanaging the assembly’s merger resources by paying his Personal Assistants some GH₵1,400.00 each and that, he is lying to and withholding information from the Honorable Assembly Members.
But this something that has not gone down well with many people and some Chiefs in the area. As a result, the Patriots of Tamale have pledged their unflinching support to the mayor and urged the Assembly members to backtrack from their intended Vote of No Confidence.
“We are serving a very strong warning to the conveners of this non-stutter vote of no confidence to either backtrack or we will show them where power lies when they come asking for our mandate. We are solidly behind the MCE in all his discourse that will bring back the lost glory of Tamale as it has ever been adjudged the cleanest city in the Sub-Saharan region” Mr. Goodman stated.
